antilock brake light

my little yellow light that says ANTILOCK is on now...theres no wierd brake noises or anything, and i dont brake hard much so i dont know if the anti-locking action workin.........its really bright and i dont know how to find whats wrong.....anyone tell me how to find out whats wrong with it????can u "check codes" with the harness under the hood??? or is it a take it to the repair shop kind of thing?

rangerj posted some nice ABS troubleshooting help a couple months back.

Either scroll back a few pages or see if you can find it using keyword "ABS*" and his username in the advanced search fucntion.

The codes can be read, however it requires a special code reader as far as I know.

Does the ABS warning light (amber) stay on all the time, that is while the key is on (KOEO), while cranking the engine, with the engine running (KOER), while the vehicle is moving, while braking, with the vehicle stopped, and at idle? Is the "RED" BRAKE warning lamp OFF?

Look at the wiring diagrams supplied by Bizzy and then check all of the ABS harness connections. Disconnect and then reconnect all of the connections being careful not to bend or damage any of the pins.

If this does not solve the problem get back to us and we will test the ABS components starting with the RELAY. rangerj

the yellow light is always on, no matter what. the red brake light has never been on, i dont even know what part of the warninglights its on, i guess i could set my ebrake and find out tho....its wierd, the mechanic that used to fix my car said it was some like 350 dollar part, but i dont trust him, he drinks a whole lot of beer(he put my new brake caliper on wrong.....)i looked that post from rangerj up last night, i still gotta read it over and understand the stuff...
