Ok before all you all start IO have already done a search but I still have a few questions. I tried pushing the break hard while starting and the light flickers but stays on. What does that do anyway? And I have pulled the abs fuse and it is fine but the light stays on even with the fuse out. What do i need to do to get this damn light off! shrug

If the light stays on it's because there is a problem with the abs system. The only way to get it to shut off is to fix the problem. There is a plug in the middle of the firewall for testing your codes. I'm not sure if you can test it the same way as the eec codes without a code reader but I am sure someone else will chime in with that.

Black tape to fix the light.

Unfortunately, you cannot test the ABS computer as easily as you can the EEC-IV computer. Sorry.

The ABS light should be flashing a code sequence that is there to assist in the diagnosis. Watch for a pattern and count the flashes.

If the light is on there is a problem. I had a poor elecrtical connection that was making mine come on.

i would try a new fuse. on the old fuse that was in there i used a test light and on one side the fuse made the test light light up, but on the other side it would not. can't hurt to replace it, especially since it is extremely easy to do.

There are two ground connections on the radiator support on the driver side. One of them is for the ABS, check to see if it's making a solid connection. I chased this problem around for a month and that's what it turned out to be.

KY,

SLOSHO hit the nail on the head. The ABS is an electronic system, and like the other electronic systems it depends on good electrical connections, including the ground.

Check all you ABS connections. Look closely at the ABS rings for signs of damage to any of the teeth, and look for any cracks in the rings.

I have seen several ABS rings that have slipped outward on the CV joint and start hitting the teeth on the steering knuckle. The ring should line up with the center of the pick-up sensor. rangerj
