If its an ATX, it has a factory rev limiter of right under 4K. An aftermarket chip can remove this, but it is harmful to the torque converter I have read.

You don't want to free rev your motor that high anyways. It's bad for your motor.

no.. the motor can take that abuse.... but like stated above, the TC cant... builds heat very quickly... and heat +ATX=death...

It should only have this limiter in park, b/c the tranny cooler's ability to dissapate the specific heat of the atf is next to nothing when air is not flowing through it.

The T/c is the biggest contributor to heat in ATXs, basically its like comparing a waterfall accept water flowing upwards at the same rate as going down, and the car's tranmission is coupled with the drivetrain through this, not to mensions a HOT crankshaft sitting less then a CM away.

If an atx can rev past 4k in park then you need to fix the gear selector module that sits on top of the trans. You should not have this limitor in drive, if u do then i would look into that module as well b/c chances are its telling your comp that the car is in park.

Sure it can take it, but how many times? Ask anyone - not a good idea. I'd rather be moving when my motor starts ticking or blows up.

blows up from redline? You do know the accessories will blow up before the engine, and that ford tested it on a bench at 8k for 2 days straight untill they started throwing accesorries left n right. The yamahammer is a strong engine, it can definetly handle redline all day long if its maintained correctly.

I wish snopes.com would do a page we could point to on an accurate representation of the factory testing done on the 3.0L KOA. Surely by next week it'll be 15,000 rpms for a month.

Yeah, I know right. Thats like saying throwing it in reverse at 25 is okay cause you did it and your tranny still works. LMFAO.
