Alright, ever since I replaced the tranny and clutch, I have been hearing a rattling noise whenever the car is in neutral. When I step on the clutch, the rattling goes away. My friend said it was because of the new TO bearing, but it's been in for about a month now. Also, when I accelerate, I can hear a slight whining noise, it's very subtle, I don't know how long it's been doing that, usually I have the tunes on and apparently haven't noticed it. I remember the night my old tranny blew, I heard a whining noise, but it was really loud. I have no idea how many miles the replacement tranny has on it. I did fill it all the way up with fluid last month. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem after my recent clutch change. A few mechanics I have talked to said that it is normal for the self-centering TOB to make some noise.

What type of clutch did you replace the old one with?

Check the transmission fluid level, low fluid level can cause the whinning noise.

I don't remeber who manufactured the clutch, I bought it at autozone, I was unable to find it on their online store.

Actually, I think the manufacturer was Dynapak, at least that's what the box said I think.

Just curious if it was the 9-puck fibertuff clutch, because they all seem to make that noise. But when you press the clutch in it goes away. This is due to an all metal spline on the clutch disc. But new TOB's can make that noise until they get broken in. How many miles on the new clutch?

And did you check the transmission fluid level yet?

I got about 800 miles on the new clutch. And the sad thing is, the one I took off was in no need of replacement, but I already had the new one, and the tranny out so I figured what the heck, might as well do it now.
