If I go with the forscan route should I even bother with a processor, and just hook the amp straight into the spliced RCA's?
You shouldn't need a DSP for integration if you get the forscan mod to work correctly. Just would have to splice RCAs onto the speaker outputs at that point. You may want a DSP to tune for the install/car but that gets into personal preferences/level of audio snobbery.
I have not tried any changes on an ACM so use at your own risk. I believe to have a flat eq you need to change line 727-01-02 from 0233 to 00XX (the Xs leave alone, and in this case they should be the checksum for that line. Forscan will tell you there is an error and if you proceed it should correct it for you.). For the output it should be line 727-01-01 third digit, I believe for your car change from DA00 to DA10 for 4V low level output.
