Amp questions

I'm looking to figure out a set up to get the most volume out of my amps.
Here's the set up.
4 channel alpine amp http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPF300/Alpine-MRP-F300.html?tp=115 running front and rear speakers

2 channel 300w JL amp running 8" sub.
Is there a better way to wire speakers to get more volume. Such as bridging rear speakers or something.
All infinity speakers. Should be able to handle the power.

Bridging will eliminate stereo separation. Max volume is not always a good thing as bridging will double or triple the distortion and you won't be able to turn the volume up as high...bridging is for Bass woofers, not for 3-ways.

First id suggest not using Shoforum as your decision maker when it comes to car audio. esp with anything above factory.

However. ill help where i can.

1st. i need to know more about the speakers your using. kind ect.
2nd. what type of head unit are you using?
3rd. are you just looking for more volume all around? or a cleaner sound?

if your using factory door and rear deck speakers they are not very qood when paired with aftermarket amplifiers. most of them get overrun and were never designed with that in mind.
You dont have to spend a lot of money here to get a good sound. In fact for the most part you can eliminate your rear deck speakers all together.

Amplifiers can be bridged. no matter what kind. however. some are not "stable" when doing this. and will quickly fail.

as for the 8" sub. most of the "volume" you will get here will be from the enclosure. a properly tuned sub enclosure will do more for a sub than any amplifier.

i need to know more about your audio system before i can assist further.

I've always liked having 3 pairs of preouts: Front, Rear & Subwoofer.

If you only have 2 preouts, you almost have to run the sub(s) and the rear deck speakers with the 4 channel (bridge one side of it for the sub) and the doors with a 2 channel.

When you have 3 preouts, you can run 3 separate amps, each one matched for the speakers they will drive. I've always considred this to be the ideal setup and until my car got broken into, it's how I had it. I had complete control of all three pairs of speakers from the head unit and there was no problem quickly tuning it to sound the best for each different radio station or CD or MP3 (they all have different levels of bass).


These days, however, head units have become much more powerful and you don't really need a separate amp to run door and decklid speakers. Just a quality 2 channel and a good sub.
