I really like the idea of the 11.6" rotors on the front of my SHO, especially since that 10.2" stock system is inadequate, but my question lies in what parts would I need to complete the upgrade myself. I read that the 94-95 spindles will accept the larger rotor (right?) and I can get a pair for $100. Then my question goes to: I need 96+ rotors, but will OEM 94-95 calipers work, and what about brake hoses and pads? Any expertise would be greatly appreciated, since $1300 seems a hefty price for such an upgrade. Oh, by the way, I think I'm going to go with Bendix parts, just for the quality, am I a fool here or is that intelligent?

Thanks for everything,

Dave

for the 94's and 95's you just need the 96' and up rotor and caliper bracket
BTW this is the first mod I would do to any SHO
everybody should have this done

I would have to replace the basketweaves too, right?

Yes, you will need a set of 16" wheels for brake clearance. A used set of Slicers are a cheap option.

I'm not trying to confuse you, but just give you a few options to think about. To answer your question directly the 94/95 calipers will work. Make sure that the junkyard spindles you get A) came off of a car with ABS and B) aren't bent. Many junkyard pieces are from heavily wrecked cars. I am pretty sure that the brake hoses will work just fine.
Just a thought, but if you are planning to upgrade your MTX past this brake upgrade, you might either plan upgrading to more capable brakes. This isn't to say that the upgrade that you are considering isn't worth your while, because it definately is. One way to go is to obtain dual piston PBR aluminum calipers ($290 delivered from brakesrus.com) and having the caliper brackets machined to fit over the 11.6 inch rotors. This package will fit under the stock 16 inch slicer. Also, look into what Todd at TCE has to offer. I think that you may be pleasantly surprised. A little more food for thought. If you ever plan on going to 17 inch wheels, hold off on the brakes and go with a Baer upgrade. A 13 inch disc would be nice. I do realize, however, that all of these options are more expensive than the standard 11.6, but I just want to be helpful so that you can make the best choice.
