Alternator!!

Well I have been having problems with battery going dead and what not. I got alternator checked while on the car and it is not getting re charged. I was un hooking it today and the metal connector that hooks to the bolt was broke.The bolt was all rusty and also the connectory.I started un screwing it and the bolt snapped off. What can I do now? Think thats why I am getting to power to the alternator?
