Can anyone tell me the purpose of the three wires connected to the alternator. I assume that the large gauge wire is the power wire, but what are the other two (both are part of a plastic connector) for?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know the max amperage a battery can handle from the alternator? I'm re-wiring some stuff and using lower gauge wires and my own fuses.
