Alternator issues-

Just checking in to ask if 17 volts at the battery at 3500 rpm is normal. I am having my radio and my ac control unit cut off when I rev up in park and under load. Over charge? Any input will help.-

Sounds like voltage regulator is bad.

I just finished replacing mine alt the voltage reg was bad. I had to turn on all the power to make it home yesterday. Took 3 hours the screws in the battery tray were frozen from my old bad battery leaking.

So 17 volts is not normal? I have an optima battery(new) and it charges at idle but 17 volts at 3500 is high...right? I do not know how hiogh it goes at redline but I am guessing much higher- M

17 volts is not normal. It should be in the range of 14 or a little more.
