I took the alternator off while replacing the timing belt. Now when I try to reinstall it the long bolt that goes through the two top brackets on the alternator will not tighten. There doesn't seem to be anywhere for it to thread on the alternator or the mount. I have replaced the alternator before with no trouble. Is there supposed to be a nut on the back side of the mount that I don't remember and possibly lost? The bolt does not seem to have enough threads on the end to thread into a nut.
Thanks

in my experience, you need to install each of the bolts and start the threads prior to tightening any of them, since they have a tendency not to line up quite right, which can result in the problem you are having.

Going from memory here but there should be a strange nut that is inserted into the other side of the alt. It's not shaped like a nut but it fits in the hole and will not turn. But it does pull in as you tighten the the bolt to hold everything tight and square.

is there a diagram or pic that I can see to help know what to look for?

I don't remember there being anything on the back side, so if there was it dropped onto the ground and I will have to go looking.

Replaced old bolt with a new one threaded to the tip and nut.

Supprisingly it wasn't too hard to get threaded. Used an extendable magnet to hold the nut and get it started and then tightened it down with a wrench.

Anyone know if this is correct for the long bolt on a 94/95 MTX alternator?
N807241-S437 found on Fordpartsgiant, supercedes an earlier part no.
