Aligning Subframe

Could someone please go over or redirect me to the procedure? After a few searches the best I could find is 3/4" metal rod 18" long. Nothing about what to do with it or anything more descriptive. Thanks and apologies if this is a repost. -Joe

See FSM procedure below. I found it easier to have two rods rather than one as they describe. It's a tight fit, you'll have to hammer the rods into the holes. You want to hold the rod 90 degrees to the subframe to align the holes. So, if you have the front of the car raised on jackstands be sure to compensate for the car sitting at an angle when positioning the rods.





1. With an assistant, align subframe to body. Install two rear body mounts to subframe on 3.0L and 3.8L engine equipped vehicles. Install four bolts into mounts. DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME.

2. Install a 19mm (3/4 inch) outside diameter pipe or similar tool into front LH subframe and body alignment holes. After aligning the holes, slightly tighten the LH front body mount bolt.

3. Repeat Step 2 on front RH alignment holes.

4. Check front LH alignment holes with tool.

5. After subframe alignment is complete, tighten four rame-to-body bolts to 75-102 N-m (55-75 lb-ft).
