AL. sfb's + stock sfb's

Anybody running aluminum sfb's and stock sfb's at the same time ? I was thinking of going aluminum but i live in the city and i dont want a harsh ride soo my idea was to run the al.'s in the rear and stocks in he front, good or bad idea?

You could get the the GEN3 ones instead. It's in the middle , not too harsh , not too "soft".

I think it's best for daily driver and/or crappy roads and/or used on a rustbelt subframe.

Yup They fit no problem, I have 4 on my car. Trimmed the little notch w/ the good old dremmel tool and bolted them in :)

I live in Queens, and have AlSFB's.

Probably because there is no rear subframe ;) .

As for the ALSBs, I have them in my car, and I don't think they are "harsh" at all. The re-enforced motor mounts added 100 times more noise and vibration than the ALSBs did.

well which did you put in first? I think it's more of a "AND" logic gate. ALSFB + reg. mounts = ok vibration, ALSFB + reinforced m.m. = ouch!

I did the ALSBs way before the mounts. I didn't think the ALSBs added any harshness at all, and made the car handle WAYYYY better.

I did the re-enforced mounts recently, and they made the car way the heck louder (transmits engine noise) and added much more vibration. But I got used to it in about a week and now it's like I don't even notice.

I put gen III mounts in my car in the spring and love them. They tightened up the car without adding any additional NVH. The bonus was that my subframe was already notched too so I didn't have to do anything to it. Would definitely recommend them if you live anywhere with rough roads (i.e. Michigan).

i meant when looking for stock replacement sfb's i find "front right" and "front left" bushing no rears

I live in Queens, and have AlSFB's.
i also live in queens and travel through most of the boroughs, i just heard alot of guys talking about a harsh right, kinda worried me


Also.. maybe I confused some of you guys what i had in mind was stock rubber sfb's in the front right and front left corners of the subframe and maybe al. sfb's in the right and left rear corners of the subframe or vice versa, how would it work, how would it feel...etc

my opinion, is keep all 4 the same, because you might be twisting the subframe then. But to be honest, if youre doubting it just get new stock rubber units. The reason the alum one are a LOT better is because most people replace them when their stock ones are bad.:thumb:

Umm... no? :shrug:

Having driven a car with brand new stock SFB's, and then immediately driving mine, the difference is night and day.

SHO93OFF, where in Queens? I'm in East Elmhurst, and I've seen at least 2 new Gen 2 SHO's in the past few weeks, and one Gen III.

Iam in ozone park, on woodhaven blvd. my sho is green.


Iam still having a hard time finding stockers, they all say "FRONT"
and from wat i hear theres a difference between front and rear sfb's
and i also thought there was a difference between gen II and gen III bushing however this is what rock auto has listed

I can show you some pictures of some not-so-old stock bushings that will scare you.

I had one completely disintegrate, two that had fallen apart, and one that was still in tact....

get the ALSFB and be done with it.

Personal opinions:

1) Don't run a solid SFB at one end and a flexible one at the other, you're just asking for either wear or breakage at the solid-bushing end.

2) Gen 3 Tauruses did not use the so-called 'Gen 3' bushing in all four positions - they used the four-stud bushing (used in all four positions on the early Gen 1 cars) in front and the 'Gen 3' bushing in back. I think there's a reason for this...

3) ...the Gen 3 bushing is directional, it has voids designed into it to allow more fore-aft motion than side-side. I believe that using four Gen 3 bushings probably allows the subframe to move around more than the two-and-two configuration Ford used.

My Gen 3 subframe conversion is going in with the Ford configuration - a pair of my NOS blue four-stud police bushings in front and the Gen 3 bushings in back. We'll see how it works.

As for aluminum SFBs and ride quality - we've all been down the slippery slope. We put in the springs and shocks, and we notice a little difference. Then we do the SFBs and we notice it's a little worse but we get used to it. Then we put on 17in wheels and notice it's a little worse but we get used to it. Then one day we get in the car after driving something else and suddenly realize "This thing rides like sh*t".

So in all which subframe bushing would be the best? The aluminum subframe bushings or the gen 3? I also heard that the aluminum subframe bushings make the car very noisy and make everything rattle going over the slightest bumps, but make the car handle amazing. I also heard that the gen 3 bushings make the car handle very well with barely any noise. I'm just wondering which ones will hold up the longest in a daily driven car. Once you go alsfb would you ever have to replace those again??
