Just got some info from my distributor that the Airaid intake kits are hitting the market now for the 2010 SHOs. Gains of 9 hp and 15#s tq are documented on their kit. I'll post up pics if I'm allowed as its not pictured on their website yet. Part number is 450-260. Let the aftermarket start rolling. :woo-hoo:

Retail I'm guessing would be @ $389.99. It has a MSRP just a bit over $400.00. I'm trying to get the info on when I would be available to get it at my shop. It is only a box and filter, and it resuses the factory piping. It has a large a$$ opening for the front where the factory "ram air scoop" would be. Supposedly Airaid has them ready to ship ot though so I'll keep ya posted.

My car was the Beta tester for this part, and it is a box, cone filter and large tube that the sensor goes on and goes to the pipe that y's off to the turbos. It feels as if there is a performance increase to me, but I have nothing documented. I have had the final production part on my car for about a month now. I could post pictures, but am new to site and not sure how to.

I just can't see 9hp. It uses the same factory, bent up, restrictive piping. I have the Hennessey kit and honestly not sure it really makes any power. I do make about 10 more hp than Livernois car but really think it's just the gear ratio difference that allows it to put more power to the ground. I can't see 9hp just from the open element filter but maybe. I'll be working on version 2.0 of my Hennessey kit over the next couple weeks (would be sooner but I'm taking a much needed vacation next week) I'll post up the changes when I'm done and IAT comparisons as well

Yeah. Just "in general", I don't see the factory leaving that much power on the table nowadays.

Sure, they have noise issues with the feds and the marketing folks, but that's what all those "boom box blobs" in the intake do. On most cars, anyway, can't say I've studied an Ecoboost.

FWIW, on my '05 LGT, I hit a dog about a year after I bought it. Busted off the "boom box blob" on the bottom of the pre-filter box in the fender. Basically the car now drew air fromlower fenderwell, as well as the grill intake.

Sounds a bunch better, but power? Zip.

I had run dragstrip times before and after the "mod", with no difference. And this was after the Stage 1 Cobb reflash that gets me to the mid 13s.

What did he pay u guys to post this?

Ain't no one paid me crap bro. Came across my work's email beginning of the week. Anything 2010 SHO related will pass thru my desk/computer as soon as it gets off the press. Why would he pay me to post something that I can sell myself through my work?? I was just commenting on how jobes hopped in and basically said what I had said. :snicker:

That's a pretty nice looking piece. I could see that making a bit of power, especially since they say it seals to the hood. Honestly the more surface you have to allow air into the car the better it's going to run, you really think trying to feed 2 turbos thru that tiny stock slit in the fender is as good as an open element filter? The more air that gets fed in and less restriction on the turbo's is going to decrease spool time (means they spin up faster), can pull more in (means it makes more power) at a higher velocity then that measly little 4" opening they have stock.

Many cars get huge benefits from an unrestricted intake, especially cars with a power adder. My Cobra made 365rwhp stock, I put a K&N CAI on and it made 392rwhp, that's almost 30hp to the wheels. Same day, never unstrapped from the dyno. Did a pull, installed the K&N and did another pull. The LS1 engines make 15-25rwhp with just putting a "lid" on it. Make no mistake intakes done right make power.

Another thing to many people over look is "where" the engine makes power. Everyone is obsessed with "peak" numbers they forget to look "under the curve" if you have 2 identical cars both making the same peak HP but one car makes 15HP more everywhere in the power band, that car is going to win. A good intake will help the car make power everywhere, not just peak. I've beaten plenty of cars that make 50 more peak HP power then my car, only because my car made more power for a longer period of time everywhere in the rev range.

The problem is it feeds the same bent up piping. I really can't see it making any more power than a k&n panel filter. Case in point, I have the Hennessey CAI which is a stretch to say there is anything "cold" about it, but it does replace the factory piping quite well. The problem is it gets really hot because it's metal. It has an open element filter and the box "almost" seals to the hood, but honestly make little power. I know Hennessey claims 24hp but I just haven't seen it

Tell ya what guys, I'll get into work tomorrow and have my sales rep get one in for me. I still like the CAI that I made last year, but I'm up for trying new things. I'm patiently awaiting some nice piping though similar to what Henns had for theirs. C'mon Kirk, are ya listening! :nut:

Think it would help if you could get more air thru the grille into the air box.. Oval is quite small. Believe upper grille backing also blocks air from going straight into it.

Still - Would like to see IAT temps in stop and go driving. This will tell the real story as to how much outside vs under-hood air is getting into filter & engine.
