I've got a 92 MTX and.....
K...well...I'm goin up a hill at 30mph in 4th gear...and the engine jerks, reeeeeeeal hard, and it's painful to deal with. Pretty soon, what I think is the engine begins to make a popping noise near the times the engine seemingly bails. I'm guessing it's the fuel, air or spark...any hints? Is it something far worse!? HELP cry

Don't bog the motor so much, 30mph + 4th gear + a hill = unhappy sho motor. Remember that the SHO is a heavy car and the motor doesnt have much torque. Keep it in the proper gear and she will pull up hills wthout ********.

Alright, confession. THe reason I had it in 4th gear was not because I hate my car. The problem surfaces on any flat road, wide-open-throttle, at 2-3 RPM's usually. Do I just have to drive it harder? Will a replacement fuel filter, spark plugs, or PCV valve have anything to do with it? It happens everywhere, it just shows itself much more prominently under a heavy load. Does that change any minds?

I just had the same kind of problem. Any time I'd try to put my engine under load or past 1/2 throttle in low RPMs, she'd start buckin and jerkin and causin a general rukus....turns out it was my DIS ground (the two bolts holding the crossover tube on)....put them back in and she's runnin like a wet dream again!

Yeah, run your codes, see if that tells you anything.
4th gear @ 30mph?? Damn. I usually dont shift to 4th until like 35-40mph. Let alone going up a hill. Keep them RPMs up a bit :)

Also..the SHO motor dosen't have a PCV valve, so you can rule that one out. Fuel filter wouldn't hurt if you've never changed it..Plugs & Wires too.

had the same problem....possibly have it coming back again...its like it's just not firing and if you run it up around 5K you don't really feel the jerks anymore right? well this is what I did...after replacing the DIS and countless other sensors which did seemingly nothing I SHO Shop helped me figure out the Crankshaft positioning sensor was the problem...one I hadn't replaced yet...So I replaced that and had all new seals put throughout to stop the oil from fouling it out which was causing it we think...but with the new CPS it was running perfect at least for the few weeks before the AC Compressor died...oh yeah...don't expect the dealership to figure this problem out cause they can't...hope this helps...oh yeah i'm also a 92 MTX...perhaps we can get this recalled?
