I need help figuring out what is wrong with my stereo install. I just put in a Sony deck and used the amp bypass harness kit. It includes harness for dash wiring to aftermarket head unit harness and the amp bypass harness in the trunk. When I had my stock head unit in everything was fine - faded and balanced accurately. Now I put the sony in and I have NO sound from the right side and when I balance all the way to the left I have NO sound at all. When I balance all the way to the right I have full volume from the left. Fade works properly.

This is a replacement head unit - I got the exact same one and returned it because I thought the head unit was defective - put the stock head unit back in and all was well. Just put my replacement sony in tonight and back to the same problems. I'm guessing a defective bypass harness? I don't know what to look for. I might just have to take it to the pros and have them tell me :( Oh yeah - the stock system was JBL w amp and cd player setup in a 93 sho.

Definitly check the bypass harness in the back and make sure all the wires are correct behind the HU.

Try reinstalling the factory amp with the Sony deck. You'll need to make sure your remote wire from your cd player is hooked to the harness. That should tell you whether the problem lies in the dash or behind the seats.

leave the amp hooked up,go return that amp bypass harness and get the one that converts all the speaker wires to rca's then plug the rcas into the headunit.so in the end the adapter will have all the main power connected from head unit to car and car speaker side harness to rcas in the headunit.sounds great and uses factory amps

If you look in your din slot, and to the left there should be a black plug on one of the dash supports. Take this plug, with the ford adapter, and wire it to your deck. Unplug the factory amps and your good to go.

The sho's have wiring for the jbl amp'd system, and for the regular un amp'd system.

+2

Did that in my SHO and transfered the same radio to my Stang. I could post pics this weekend of what it looks like weather pending. And I have a JVC HU

I've seem this on 3 different Ford radio harnesses where the pins in the harness come out the back of the harness when you plug them into the car's speaker harness. I don't know if this is something that happens a lot, or just a coincidence for me.

follow up

I decided to go the route of using the hidden in the left dash factory amp bypass harness - THANKS FOR THE INFO. I didn't know which color wires are for what being that it's factory colors - So i took it to a shop and had them take care of it- sounds AMAZING

Sony head unit
sony front 4 way speakers
and rear 6x8 oz audio 2 ways.

MUCH better than stock -
now i need to unload all of the stock stuff amps and head units.
THanks again everyone.
