Yep. That's how I had my '93 set up, only with a Pioneer HU. Just get the Scosche Wiring Harness for the Ford JBL systems for the HU, and hook it up that way. It's about 10 bucks at Wal-Mart.

Yeah. When you use just the harness up front, there is a line for amp power, which you need to hook up to the HU anyway. This single wire controls the speaker amp and the sub amp. That wire was hooked to the remote power wire coming off the HU. If this wire isn't hooked up, the speakers won't work anyway. However, you can get the amp bypass connector for the trunk as well, which will power the car speakers by your HU. If you went this route, then you'd have to figure out how to hook your sub amp up to the RCA preouts on the HU, or do some splicing with rear speaker wires for the amp.

I opted to keep all of the stock amps because I wanted to protect the speakers somewhat. Little did I know, they wouldn't have blown anyway because the stock JBL's are some of the better factory speakers out there. I had the speakers hooked up to an Eclipse HU that put out 45x4 and that didn't blow the speakers. Distortion wasn't even that bad shrug
