Since I have a non-keyless SHO with no door pad either, it is near impossible to retrofit the factory system in since the wiring is different. I have searched the forums for several months and it is just hard to do.

So does anyone have any experience good or bad with aftermarket keyless systems?
Thanks,
Eric

no on a sho. but a few of the familly cars have had systems installed. i think they were all done at circuit city, pretty cheap and quickly installed. nothing crazy, just your basic stuff. it was cheap and has been workin for years. i would suggest just goin to a place like that and pick a nice cheap one out. and everynow and then theyll have free install specials. just look around places like that till you find a special

While at the squealer picking up my headlight clips I saw a thingy for "add-on" keyless with the pad. It's all wireless. The pad just sticks on the door/pillar area. Dunno 'bout price...

I have purchased/worked more SHO's than I care to think about. This is the only one without any type of keyless. This will certainly be my last SHO too.

As far as remote keyless systems go i know no gen1's came factory with that. If i recall 92 is when they added the remote keyfob. I know for a fact 93's had them because i owned 2 with them. As far as the keypad is concerned theres quite a few gen1s without them. Its pretty rare to find an 89 for example that has one. Mine does :) Anyways ive seen a few gen2s without the keypad but they dont have full leather, sunroof, or passenger airbag either. Its pretty much an option deal on that one. I hardly ever use my keypad but a remote keyfob would be great to have. Ive just never had time to retrofit one. It is possible to do though.

That is what is crazy about my current SHO. It has every option minus any type of keyless entry (pad or fob). I did not know that was even an option to not get it with the option packages. I guess this is my stripper SHO.

My 95 didn't have keyless entry (nor a sunroof, full leather, or JBL sound), but I had a friend install some cheap alarm/keyless setup. Pan Am I think it was. Had one of those kinda ricey remotes with the screen that would go crazy if the shock sensor went off, or if a door was left open, engine running (?)..yada yada yada. It's worked well for over a year.

You can have some crazy options with these alarms. The same friend who put mine in had a crazy one in his old MX6. Remote start, remote window vent and rollup, motion detectors around and in the car. Sirens hidden throughout the cabin that were painfully loud. Ironically, the car was broken into after the engine hydrolocked a few blocks away from his house. The alarm did nothing because the battery had gone dead... (poopers).
