So yadda yadda yadda i got a 4 channel amp and wired it it last weekend. The probelm I ran into is that the remote turn on circuit on the new amp draws too much current (11 or so mV) and causes the votlage from the factory remote turn on to drop to ~2.5 volts, not enough to turn on the factory radio... Anyone out there have any ideas as to how to fix this problem? I was thinking along the lines of an electronic relay... but if theres an easier way im all ears. I also have a sub amp but its remote turn on circuit only draws 0.4mV and only drops the voltage to 12.3V or so. Hehe right now i have the remote turn on wire connected to the tail light plug on my trailer harness so i have to have the headlights on if i want to listen to the radio. Its not a horrible idea when driving but if i wanna listen to my radio in the driveway, the battery dies much quicker. I was thinking along the lines of an electronic relay...

simple way...
run a new wire straight from the Batt., with an in-line fuse and a swtich...

Or the other general way, is using a fuse that is only on when the key is in the run/acc. postion.

But i'd be curious on why that was pulling so many volts.... whats you ground look like?

ran mine to the fuse box under the dash... used a "piggyback" attachment I found at autozone. Works with no problems

Well I went poking around in the trunk the other day and found a brown/pink wire that puts out 12 volts when the radio is on and can handle the current. The wire led to the harness that i think provides power to the CD changer but the mating plug didnt have a pin in it so the wire im using now was never being used in the first place. To answer the other concern, I called Rockford Fosgate today and they said 11mA is well within spec.
