Has anyone added ACC to a PP SHO?
If it's an option on the non PPs then the sensor and grill, etc.. parts must be available.

I just seems like a really cool option to have.

Thanks in advance!

It's not that great. You come up on a slow car, next thing you know, you are going 10 mph slower than you want. It's so smooth and gradual you don't notice it. Needs a chime to let you know to change lanes.

I used it going to Houston last week and it worked great. If you come up on slower traffic and the passing lane is full which is not unusual between Dallas and Houston you just wait for an opening and move into the passing lane. The car will speed back up to your preset speed. Definitely less of a hassle than standard cruise control. The massaging seats are really nice on long trips too.

Hmmm...it just seems like if it's already in the nonPP then there should be a way to add it on.
I keep looking for an aftermarket but dont see one.

Not sure if it's different on 2013 and up, but on my 2010 it only works down to 20 mph. After that it'll tell you to take over control. This technology seems to have gotten a lot better in the recent years, in my wives 2019 vw, the car will come to a complete stop, and restart by itself. All you have to do is steer.

It'll be interesting to see if this is do-able. I love my ACC and use it every day. It's one of my favorite features about my SHO. It was an available option on my LS460, but mine didn't have it. I remember other forum members raving about it. Now I know what I was missing. As for a chime...no thanks. Another chime/beep/buzzer/bell is the LAST thing I want. :D

I imagine something like aftermarket ACC could potentially be a big liability issue for the seller if it was not installed right or had other issues causing an accident. That is probably why there is no after market for ACC.

Meh...I dunno. That argument could be made about when they used to sell aftermarket cruise control to retrofit to cars back in the 80's and 90's, or selling aftermarket brake kits. But in a litigious society like the U.S....it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe if they slapped on a million warning labels?

I believe ACC isn't available on the PP models because the PTU cooler and the ACC hardware would occupy the same space. Since the non-PP doesn't have the cooling hardware, the ACC can fit in that location.

You guys are talking about the radar sensor that sits behind the solid triangular panel, on the driver's side, lower grill, yes....?

If so, then please note, it is *NOT* the "PTU" cooler that must be moved and/or relocated.

The cooler that is located in close proximity to that radar sensor is the OEM Aux Tranny Cooler & it's associated plumbing to/from.

The PTU Cooler is a jacketed sleeve if you will, which is mated to the PTU housing itself.

Nowhere near the same (things).

There was/is a "How-To" thread somewhere, from a fellow owner, who followed my own "How-To" on retro-fitting the Aux Tranny Cooler, with the exception being, that he had updated it, and/or added to it, where those with ACC on the Non-PP Equipped models, he showed a work around and/or an ability on where to relocate that radar sensor, and in essence, to have *BOTH* ACC and the Aux Tranny Cooler simultaneously.

I gotta dig around for that "How-To" & post if so desired.....?
