Hey, Since I got Sylvia, there's a door ajar light on that doesn't go out. The doors all close right and when you activate the push switch in the door jamb, it does what it's supposed to do... on all 4 doors
I'd love to hear some ideas or other experiences people have had to track down what is making this dash light stay on.
thx in advance,
T

The door switch that turns on the dome light does not run the door ajar light. That switch is in the latch of the door that grabs the pin mounted on the car body.
the cure is to get WD-40 on the general system, as it is difficult to determine where the actual connection part is. Eventually it will work after soaking a few times.

yup, just spray a bunch in the latch area of all 4 doors until it works right again.

Sprayed em twice so far...still lit...I'll try more more. I suspect the rear doors cause clearly they'd get used least and so get stuck first.

you are at a disadvantage since you don't know which door it is, but my experience is that it is more likely to be the driver's door. spray liberally with WD40 as sperold says, and keep repeating until it works again. I have yet to see one that needed anything else but sprayed.

You're spraying at the latch mechanism into the door correct? As for which door, it's a crapshoot. I've had them go bad in the most used driver door-- and the much less used rear door.

well...I sprayed more than a can over the time period since beginning of thread and decided rather than continue to drench things...I solved he problem the wrong way and removed the door ajar light bulb in the dash. Just not willing to wait any longer or spend any more hours and months waiting to deal with such a little annoyance--that would not go away...It's gone now.YAY
