Hey all,

Just to let you know, I have taken both motors out now and detailed the engine bay of the new car and degreased everything. I retapes all of the electrical and cleaned everything out. Looks good.

I had to change out water pumps and loosened the timing belt off and the cams kinda sprung off and lost their registration. I was curious if i can adjust the timing somehow with the bottom crank pulley on. I know where the cams are supposed to be lined up to with those notches, but when those are lined up, where is the crank position supposed to be? TDC?

I will keep you posted of the progress...

there is a dot on the oil pump that lines up with the dot on the lower timing gear, just line em up and that puts the motor in the right place. You will know its right when u put the timing belt on and all the lines are correct.

Even with the index marks on the pulleys in place, you really need to use the white marks on the timing belt to ensure the timing is correct. See the correct alignment at installation in this topic.

When taking the timing belt off it's common for the cam sprockets to fall out of place. Put some gloves on and turn the cam sprockets so the dimple lines up with the rear timing belt covers. The sprockets can be tough to turn by hand so get those muscles out.

Better than muscles is the leverage provided by a strap wrench. I have a scar on my left palm where the belt and pulley bit out a chunk of skin while trying to turn the pulleys by hand. Another painful lesson learned.
