Aftering riding around in my friends Maraudor which is now totaled! I have been thinking about adding some gagues were my CD player is. I was thinking about add a Boost gauge for one. I was wondering if there was a way to hook it up so that when the secondaries are open the gauge would read boost. Since the runners are vac controlled anyways, it should work, right? thumbs_u or is this a bad idea?

I suppose you could hook a gauge up like that. The gauage isn't going to read boost because the secondaries open up with vac, so they gauge you would get would have to be a vac gauge.

I do not think you'd be able to rig up a gauge, due to the fact that the secondaries open due to a lack of vacuum. If you want to do 2 gauges, do oil pressure and water temp. Those are the two shortcomings of the stock ford cluster.

Cool, thanks for the input. I guess I will have to do oil and maybe battery volts. I know the the temp gauge is not the most acurate, but I don't want to have two in the car. thanks again

MrJFranklin, you read my mind. I was thinking of doing the same thing for my vacuum gauge. You can't get it to read boost, but I think it will jump when the secondaries open. As long as you tap into one of the hoses that cross between the diaphragms(sp?[I think that's what they are called]). Anybody know about this?

Most boost guages will also read vacuum, which you can see by the scale numbers. Vacuum guages can help diagnose engine problems and vacuum leaks, as well as help you drive economically by trying to maintain the highest vacuum number.
Best is to actually buy a real vacuum guage, not boost, in the size you want.
Also get a volt guage. I bought a Heart Interface volt/amp guage combo, which also has a battery condition indicator. Very high quality, reads to 100's digitally. Mainly marine use, but great for cars. I bought Greddy oil and temp also; they are a perfect match for stock look, lighting matches. I also bought A pillar guage pods. Look hot, better visibility.

I already have the vacuum gauge, I'm just not sure which hose to splice into. I wanted to see if I could have it 'jump' when the secondaries open. And most boost gauges read more boost numbers than they do vacuum.

Skippie, Shoguy93 We got cut off on the interstate, lost control and slid sideways into a ditch. Then the car rolled about four times. I can post pics if you want.

As I said before, the secondaries activate due to lack of vacuum, so it'd read vacuum, then actually go down to 0 when the secondaries open. Not the intended effect.

SHO91MTX, I'm assuming I would have to splice a T into the vacumm lines that cross through the snakes right? I know of like 3 vacuum lines that I had to disconnect when I cleaned my manifold last spring. It appears I would tap into one of the lines that go to those diaphragms(I think) on the end of the butterflies.
