1. Jack up front of car
2. Remove passenger front tire
3. stick 3/8" extension in socket of tensioner pulley found just to the left of the crank pulley
4. Relieve tension on belt, and pull off crank pulley.

I've found it's easier to put the new belt on from the top down. Also, don't use a Gatorback belt - I have found the length listed as the same as OE actually isn't; it's just a bit shorter. Just enough to put too much stress on the alternator bearings and cause them to squeak.

I found it easier to go ahead and put the belt on every pulley including the tensioner while leaving it off the center idler. Then with a long extension bar and ratchet connected to the tensioner, I used my leg to push down and install the belt onto the center idler from above.

Leverage was my friend in this case because there was no way I could get the belt to go on the tensioner from below the car.

It helps to have an extension bar that has a locking mechanism on it if you want to try it this way.

Will the duralast belt from Autozone work? I would also like to replace the coolant tank as mine is leaking. How do I go about that? Thanks so much!

Get the Valuecraft from Autozone. $7.00 less than the Duralast and it's the same exact belt. Even has the same part number. Only difference is the warranty but for the $10.00 that it cost, it's not a big deal.

Coolant tank is held on by a nut at the end and a bolt on the side. Remove those and the three hoses that connect to it and you're set.

You might find it easier to replace the belt if you take out the tank first. I even moved the power steering resevoir over just to free up some space for me to get my hand down around the center idler. After I was done, I bolted it back up to the strut tower.

X2-Take the tank off to give yourself room to move the belt around. You can print out the belt routing from a diagram on the v8sho.com website.
