Hello all, im trying to get my ac system in COLD condition.

I have purchased a motorcraft accumulator line maybe 2 years ago. It is new and in the garage. Unfortunately....the caps have been removed from it. It isnt sealed tight.

Is it still safe to use?

I read somewhere that you dont want the accumulator line to be exposed to air.

It has been in the garage the whole time...just uncapped.

Have i saved this part for no reason? Can i use it? or am i gonna have to throw aware a brand new $140 part into the garbage?

Thanks in advance everyone.

The dryer's main function is to keep moisture out of the system and with it being uncapped, it has absorbed moisture. Toss it and get a new one. They are fairly cheap, so best to just get one new again

I'll second that !

You might first try taking the accumulator to a "reputable" local air conditioning shop and ask if the drier/absorbent can be treated or replaced.

Even if it can't, do not throw it away :nono:, as it can serve as a pattern to have a new accumulator/drier hose assembly made.

Let me know what you find out, I may be able to help. :thumb:

not to put a plug for a parts dealer, but

www.partsamerica.com (Advanced Auto in my Area)

Part No.
55620
Accumulator/Reciever Drier; w/Suction Hose; R12 Or R134a Compatible
$97.48

That part is installed and working on my 1993 SHO which was R12 from the factory and when I needed to fix a leak, changed out the liquid line and the reciever dryer and loaded it with 134a. Works fine.
