Hey everyone,

I am currently working on a 93mtx that I picked up not running. I have gotten it running and one by one I have been getting the issues on the car straightened out. I am down to two things.
First is the biggie. When you drive the car normally it runs absolutely perfect but if you go to WOT it will cut out for a second and then come back with 100 percent power. I tried unplugging and changing the maf with no luck, did a basic tuneup, nothing.
Last night I was messing with it and found a tps I had laying around. I swapped it out and drove it, no change.
So I decided to just unplug it and see what happends. I started to drive it, from idle to 2500rpms it would barely even move, but once I hit 2500rpms it shot off like a scalded dog. I found as I drove it some more that as long as I was above 2500rpms the hesitation I had at WOT was completely gone.
So I ask, is the TPS the culprit? If not anyone have any ideas?

The second issue I think may be related to the first, it is that in order for the car to start I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor. Once it fires it will smoke for a minute and then is ok. I am hoping solving the first issue may help with the second.

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx,

Sean

Does it set any codes?

When it fires up and smokes, what color is the smoke?

my atx was sort of doing this, but it was also having 'cold' start issues, i had to throttle it a bit until it would start to normally idle and would sometimes die out when i shifted to drive until the engine was fully warm, i replaced my iac with one of a MTX and then it started doing exactly what you mention and it started fine, and again nearly exact same things when i unplugged it but it idled rougher, then when i finally put the intake the iac belonged to on everything was perfect. which i don't quite understand :S the only difference between the two intakes was that my mtx one didn't have all the egr hookups, so that stuff is hanging loose in the engine compartment.
