I have a 93 ATX. Does that still use R12 or is it an R134 system. It needs to be recharged if it is R12 how do I go about converting or getting more R12... what are my options. Need AC I am dying lol

To buy R12 look for new old stock cans on Craigslist. Try one of the sites that lets you search multiple Craigslist regions. I've bought it from sellers in FL and PA.

All 93 Taurus (including SHO) were all R-12 from the factory. The change to R-134a was made in 94. So, unless it was converted, it is R-12

Yeah I have been wondering as well, and have had many different answers saying that 93 models some had R-12 and some had R-134a so what gives?? I need A/C badly!!!

The manuals (and every car I've seen) say that the 93 were built w/ R-12.

That was one of the significant reasons I bought the red 94 in 94, rather than buying a 93 for less money....

pretty easy to tell if its converted..
look for the huge tire valve looking things.
blue and red caps always give it away.

r-12 used the normal tire sized valves.

r-12 is still used in homes for a/c and such.
its only banned from auto use.
