My ac has never worked since I bought the car. It needs recharged but of course it is R-12. Is it fairly cheap to convert. And if not I want to remove it. Does anyone know what size belt I need to take up the slack of the ac being removed? I have a complete spare engine I can check but if I have some advice i can just go to the parts store and set up.:woo-hoo:

To convert, you should discharge the system, removing as much of the oil as possible, then change the orifice/expansion valve. Vacuum and recharge w/ new R134a which has compatible oil (not the standard R124a oil).

Numerous people have reported that they have converted without changing the orifice tube, but in some cases it can get plugged, so that's the risk you take if you don't change it.
