I'm getting ready to replace the master cylinder in my '90 and I've been reading that you have to 'run' the abs unit in order to bleed it right. The problem is everything for the abs is deleted except for the unit itself. Is it possible to delete the unit too? Or do I have to run it somehow after installing the new MC?

"Running" or cycling the ABS is done to get air out of the pump and portions of the fluid in the ABS system that will come into the main braking circuits when the ABS is activated. If the ABS is never activated then just a straight bleed of the system will get the "used" part of the system up to *****.

In other words, if the ABS is dead, I don't think there's a need to "bleed" it as part of the system. If the ABS ever gets repaired/replaced/reactivated, then you can bleed it by cycling it a few times or with the Thexton tool.
