A friend of mine is having an odd problem with his abs: One day the light came on and he immediately had it checked. The codes were C1175 (left rear speed sensor) and C1236 (left rear speed sensor no input). He had the sensor and ring replaced and the abs works perfectly fine but the light continues to stay on. He also had the connector under he battery looked at with no luck. Is there some-kind of latch for the light that has to be reset once a problem is fixed? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Brad

P.S. The car is also throwing a P1236 engine code but I really don't think there would be a correlation.

It's been my unfortunate experience to find out once a hard AirBag code is set the dealer has to reflash it. Or someone with an NGS scanner.

Brad, P1236, as you know is a Fuel Pump circuit fauilure. It is Identecal to P1235 but wil not illuminate MIL. The failure mode for this code is 100% FP duty cycle wich will lead to failure. Check The connector to the fuel pump driver module for a poor connection. If you cannot fix the circuit or do not have the resources to do so, I would reccomend taking it to a Ford dealer with that code.

C1236- The ABS warning indicater may still illuminate after a repair has been made if the code was not cleared. Disconnecting the B- over night will clear all powertrain and chassis codes. If the code remains, there is a fault still present. If there is no fault code but the light is still on, there is a short to groung in the indicator lamp circuit(Don't use a self powered test light if this is the case -this circuit is controlled by the ABS module and damage will occur). Disconnect ABS module connector and check circuit with a DMM. A wiring diagram from a Chilton will probably help.
