ABS codes: trigger + ground = no codes?

I am having trouble pulling my ABS codes. I read the sticky and searched though most of the existing threads and couldn't find a similar problem. I've pulled my CE codes many times, so I understand the process.

I tried jumping the trigger and the ground with a paper clip several times, key on, engine off = ABS light stays lit the entire time. I tried this several times. Next I stripped the insulation on the ground and trigger wires, and clampped them together with a vise-grip to ensure contact = same result... no codes.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this an indicator of a bigger problem? Thanks in advance for any help!

I've never done this procedure before but I'm wondering if your ABS engages when it should under hard braking?

Do you have a known problem w/your ABS?

Yes, I have had problems. Currently, the ABS light is on constantly. When the light is on, the ABS doesn't work, I've tested it under hard braking on slippery roads. Over the years the ABS light has come on periodically, and then turned off after a few hours / days. It was never constant, so I didn't feel like looking into it.

Now that winter is here, I'd like to fix the problem.

Im not sure about pulling the abs codes but it might be the ABS sensors in the front hubs

If it were the sensors, you'd be able to pull the fault codes.

Since you can't even pull the codes, it's likely the ABS module.

Thanks for your thoughts... ProjectSHO89, I had the same thought. Figured I'd get a second opinion before I replaced the ABS module. I'll keep testing and update as I discover anything new.
