if the gasket on the thermostat is still in good shape i would think you could reuse it. chiltons says the SHO should hold about 11.4 quarts of coolant. hope that helps. i would jack it up, i know when i took the radiator out of my old chrysler a jack really helped. if you can get all the fluid drained before hand i dont think it should be too bad, but never having done one on a SHO myself i would recommend using the search function to find out. good luck!

Don't use gasket maker for the thermostat. Go to kragens or auto zone and buy one. I think I got mine a kragens. Hopefully some one will chime in with the part number?

Go to SHOtimes and read the write up on changing a thermostat.

You might be able to get away with out jacking up the car if you are real skinny. Easyer to just jack it up a little bit though.

David, time to take that apart and remove all that RTV you put on there. The SHO doesnt use a gasket, there is an O-ring on the thermostat and that is all. Didnt you realize that when yout took it apart there was no gasket, why try to put one on.

FOR SHO:
uh oh, already used the gasket maker...
no big deal, just find a make-shift siphon and suck about a gallon of coolant out of the pressure cap and you will have minimal mess when you change the thermostat out. just make sure to get all that rtv off. shouldnt take too long.
