About to buy another SHO, but have a question first.

There is a 92 white MTX for sale around here, I havnt got a chance to look at it yet, he said a couple weeks ago he was driving and he heard a knocking sound, he stopped the car and got it towed back to his place...the knocking is coming from the bottom end and he thinks it is a rod bearing. so my question is is it worth buying? he is letting it go for $500, 160K miles, he also has a 3.2 sitting around, he said he would give to me for cheap also..should i also buy the 3.2 and swap that in? how hard of a job is it? how much did you spend on a 3.0 to 3.2 swap if you have it done? let me know guys..thanks

A white 92 mtx with a 3.2 (of unknown origin and condition remember). It sounds like it could turn into one **** of a good deal...being from GA, its probably a low/no rust car right?

then there is the work that needs to be done to the car...do you have the 3 most important things to do the work? The money, the skills, and the patience?

Here is what I would do: Since he is asking 500 for the car and wants to move the engine cheap, offer him 500 cash on the barrel head for both the car and the motor. See what he counters with.

yeah im not so sure on this sho..i have the money and patience...but not the knowledge...i was reading on shotimes about the 3.2 swap..but i dont know..i might just wait till i find an MTX around here...

well, hello there neighbor! where is the car for sale? id be glad to come look at it with ya, cause ive seen my share of broken SHO's and abused ones too so i know what to look for:laugh_ti:

The car is located in Covington. but the spare 3.2 is in McDonough. I like this car, real hard to find an White MTX. yes the engine is shot, well rod bearings, but chances are the crank is messed up to then. but a spare 3.2 comes with it..for 500 more. So I dont know, still waiting on my Eclipse GST title so I can sell it, then I am buying a SHO, Theres a metallic blueish purple one in TX, an MTX for 2100 and he said he'd deliver, so thats another one im looking at.
