92 mtx...went to a car show today, car ran fine...after sitting all day at the show, headed home...started and ran fine and then few miles from the show, whenever I tried pressing on the gas pedal it wanted to die...came to a corner and the idle was surging between 2-2500rpms... started out from the corner and as soon as hit the gas pedal it nearly died again...then came to another corner and when I took off it died... wouldn't restart unless I held my foot to the floor and let right off and it idled at 2k and as soon as hit the gas, it died again and again I had to hold pedal to floor for a while to restart and she'd pop a bit while restarting and white smoke was coming from the exhaust...finally made it home after many restarts... ideas?
When I got it home and after about half hour, went to put in the gagrage and again foot to floor to restart with the smoke and high idle... literally had to hold pedal lightly to about 3k to get her to move without stalling to get in the garage. When I got home I checked for fuel pressure, there was some(didn't check with a gauge), changed dis, changed tps... neither did anything to help...only code I got was 116 for the extra.

About a year or two old...but I can't see an iac affecting the way it wants to die by just touching the throttle after it's running at any rpm that it's running at the time

116 = engine coolant sensor out of range. In my experience, this will make the engine run open loop all the time since the pcm does not know if the engine is warmed up or not. If your fuel trims are out of wack, this can make it run very poorly.

So, what I would do at this point is leave the battery disconnected overnight to reset the pcm and see if that changes anything. Then, I would start checking into why there is a 116 code and eliminate that, since it really won't run correctly with that code.

An ect code will make it not want to start without holding throttle down and cranking for about 20 seconds and doesn't always stay running once it starts to fire up
