I was bored this morning.. and had some spare time, so I went out and got some paint. Since I got my '95 the driver side fender had some flakey paint, and the last few times I've washed it more would flake off.. well it was getting to the point where I had barely any paint left.. so.. I decided to make it look less nasty.

this is the flaked part..
Dsc16401

main sanding area masked off
Dsc16403

ahh yes..
Dsc16404
Dsc16405

body masked off
Dsc16406

used some cheapo rattle can duplicolor..
Dsc16407

primer
Dsc16408

paint
Dsc16410

cleared..
Dsc16411

It's still drying right now, I'll go snap a pic after the masking is all off.. so.. now bad for $20 worth of paint and a few hours eh?

Looks pretty freaking good. I'm planning on painting my hood soon with some duplicolor. Hopefully it turns out as good. It's all primered, and that's as far as I got. Any tips?

Wow, I wish I could get my color to match that closely. Every can of oxford white I buy is no where near the color of the car.

I think you should wait on that Matt, it add's to the sleeper affect, no one expects to be beaten by a primered taurus.

Now you need to remove the rest of the pinstripe. Not too difficult. I did it on mine. Some of the stripe peeled off pretty easily, some of it came off in tiny pieces. I used my fingernails and a plastic spatula with a sharp edge.

Did you put a clearcoat on the white? If you did, thats why it turned yellow. My runners are white and they still look white and havnt discolored.

Painting things is fun.:thumb:

For removing the pin stripe on my car i used a 3M pin stripe removing wheel. The wheel is a soft rubber, i think, and will NOT damage the paint. I had the stripe off of my car in about a half hour. Just need a good electric drill, not battery.

So.... Do you think the paint would turn out good over carbon fiber?

not on a large area like a hood.. plus the prep would cost a bit, I think it'd be worth it to just take the hood to a body shop.
