my 91 had a rebuilt motor put in. What do I need to do to get the a/c going again? I have two cans of R12. I need oil too, right? What kind? How much of each do I need?
Supposedly the a/c was working fine before the motor swap.

David,

You have a couple of options. You can reassemble what you have, vacuum the system, and add two to three ounces of R-12 refrigerant oil and 36 ounces of R-12. R-12 is about $125 per pound and going up. It will soon no loner be available.

You could also convert to R134a, which is about $5 to $7 per 12 ounce can. It would be a good idea to install a new accumulator dryer and a ne oriface line anyway. So if you do that, it would be wise to do a conversion. rangerj
