a/c problems can anyone help

shrug i just moved to glendale az and my a/c started to make a grinding noise and a couple days later got warm and now just blows warm air .anyone in arizona know anywhere cheaper than 80$ an hour to get it fixed reliable to. please help. also now when you turn it on i get a low fog horn sound from the dash anyone know whats wrong help help ...

well if you need to replace the compressor that is a fairly easy job that you could always do yourself and just save your money. as far as the foghorn noise goes i dunno about that. maybe someone else can help on that one. good luck man.

Where is the grinding noise comming from? The A/C compressor, the clutch surfaces, or the clutch pulley bearing? The clutch disk surfaces may be worn down so that the gap is too far out of specification to allow the clutch to engage.

Do you get the grinding noise when the A/C is off? If so, the pulley bearing is making the noise(most likely). The clutch assembly can be changed without opening the system.

As for the fog horn, look into the fan motor bearings and/or the "squirl cage" rubbing in the housing.
