My A/C on my '94 SHO went out on me on my way home from work. It wasn't a gradual thing. It just started blowing warm air.
Now for the specifics. The a/c clutch engages, but does not disengage because it's trying to cool the car. I put the a/c on Max or automatic and the compressor clutch engages and the fans come. However, it just blows warm air. The compressor clutch will disengage if I turn the a/c off, or if I race the temp on the automatic controls. I'm thinking it's one of the switches, but I don't know which one. I'm thinking maybe the a/c cyclic switch on top of the accumulator/dryer near the firewall is stuck closed, but I'm at a loss. Wouldn't it still cool the car though? I haven't lost freon(R134a), because I had the system checked. Any insight into this problem is greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss
Also, the compressor will spin freely when the clutch is disengaged.
Thanks,
Chuck
