Well i recently acquired a 97 from a friend and ive been running through its little quarks and got around to the A/C. We've found that it has a good charge and will blow cold IF you hot wire the compressor on, but if you just plug it in and turn it on the compressor will not engage. Went through a looked to see if any wires were done and didnt see anything. Not looking like any fuses are popped.

So what could i be missing? I know these footballs have a HIGH failure rate, is that it? or is it possible we missed a fuse or wire somewhere?

Thanks, David.

Not sure why it wouldn't blow cold air. I thought there were shims that need to kick on and off. But I do have a 97 football if you want to try it. Mark

Try using a broom handle to hit the face of the clutch with when it should be on and isn't. If it kicks in the shims need removed behind the pulley.

Could be a bad hi pressure switch too. Power for the clutch runs through it. Try jumping it to see if it comes on like it should.

There's one on the firewall area but it is the one with 4 wires. One set of contacts is for the high speed fan the other is for the clutch. Opposites states.
