My A/C compressor locked up, and also burned up the clutch. I've looked around, and none of the parts stores seem to be able to get an ac compressor for this thing. Does anyone know of a source for a new or remanufactured ac compressor? Preferably a reasonably priced one. Thanks.

Should you be able to turn the a/c compressor on the SHO by hand? Sorry for the dumb question, but I didn't know that some couldn't be turned by hand, maybe my compressor is ok, and I just need a new clutch.

If you can get your hand down there (with the motor stopped, of course) you should be able to turn the center section of the AC compressor pulley with your fingers if the compressor isn't locked up.

There is no "clutch" material on the Sanden TRS-090 compressors, just machined steel against machined steel.

I have an email address somewhere for a guy in Texas that will rebuild a V8 SHO A/C compressor. IIRC, he gets about $240. I'll take a look later and see if I can dig it up.

I have the compressor off. It won't turn on the bench. The clutch bearing is burned up too.

I ordered a compressor from discountacparts.com. It just arrived, and it doesn't appear to be the same as the old one. It seems shorter. The pulley and bolt holes seem the same. Mine was a Sanden compressor and had TS090 model# 3038 on it. Were there different versions of these compressors? If so is it ok to use the one I have or should I send it back?

Okay. The compressor they sent was ok. I installed the new compressor, then took the car to dealer to get new accumulator installed, flush, vacuum, and recharge the A/C system. After messing with this thing way longer than they should have (wanted to charge me hourly because SHO wasn't in book), they told me that the a/c was recharged, but the compressor probably broke because of a faulty constant relay controller. They also said the Blend door actuator was bad and wanted $900.00 to fix the BDA plus $200.00 for the CCRM plus labor to install. Could the CCRM really cause a mechanical failure of the A/C compressor? Is the CCRM a dealer only part? I've had a problem for awhile, before the compressor failed, of blowing cold air while the heat should have been on. Could the BDA actually be ok and the problem actually be the CCRM running the compressor when it shouldn't? I've run the HVAC self test numerous times, and I got a BDA malfunction only one time, and it never happened again. Every other time i've run the test it shows no problem. There is no "thumping" sound people describe with BDA failure. I actually took the football out once, and watched the BDA while the car was running, and it moved freely, but was moving almost constantly. If you guys can shed some light I'd really appreciate it.

The high pressure switch is an input into the CCRM and the PCM on the same CCRM input. If this stuck closed then the compressor would not shut off due to high pressure. Did you get an actual SHO compressor?

If you need a CCRM let me know. I think it is common to all Taurus of the year you have.

Yes after further review I got the right thing. According the the mechanic that worked on it the CCRM needs replaced. They aren't very forthcoming with information anymore because I complained about the girl at the service dept, so I don't know how they know it's bad.

The CCRM would be bad by having continuity between the Dark Green/White wire and the Black/Yellow wire all the time. Or the high pressure AC switch could be closed all the time. This would mean the AC clutch coil would be powered all the time.
