I checked the pressure in my A/C system and there is plenty of refrigerant in there. I can't get the compressor to click on though. I was told to pull the 2 wire sensor out of the black can where I would fill it and jump the connection there. Still won't go on, I checked all fuses. What else am I missing? Just 2 weeks ago the compressor would go on but shut off because of low refridge level. What could have happened?

Maybe the gap needs to be set on the clutch. If you look around at shotimes.com they have a article there telling how you set it. That is if the clutch or coil is still ok.

When you jumped the connection, did you have the A/C "on"?

Might be something you forgot.

Yes, I did have the A/C on when I jumped it. I just tried it again and it seems after the car sits and I turn on the A/C the compressor will go on for just a couple of seconds. I looked into setting the gap and I guess I still don't understand that. Can it be done above the car or do you have to get underneath it. If I replace the whole clutch and coil do I need any special tools? Or is it a nuts and bolts operation? Are the parts expensive?

Thanks guys,
Chris

Just an update, If I smack the A/C clutch with a broom it will go on for a couple of minutes. Istead of playing games with reshimming and what not I plan on replacing the whole clutch. That part is strait forward, how hard is it to change the coil. Just looking down there I can't find it. I have to do this in my apartment parking lot so if it is to big a job it will have to wait.

Just to follow up. It was ridiculously easy to reshim the clutch and it works perfectly now.

I'm glad you figured that out dude. You would have to shim a new clutch to get it to specification. The clutch gap is generally around.035, but there are some variances among the model years.
