is the a\c compressor out of my 94 mtx interchangeable with any other taurus or ford product? the reason being is that i just had my a\c clutch go and im wondering if it would be easier to change the whole pump or get just a clutch setup for it? i dont currently have the money for a whole new pump unit. so im just wondering if it would be worth it. or is it a pina to change the clutch in the car or take the whole pump out?

thanks in advance

Besides the 89-93 being R-12 and the 94-95 being R134a all 89-95 SHO compressors are the same. However, they are specific to SHO's - no other Ford product uses our compressor. You can buy just a clutch at your local autoparts store - or get a complete used compressor from someone parting our their SHO rather cheap.

ok thanks ! is it a pina to take one out and replace ????

I would reccommend just changing the clutch. This will prevent you from having to reclaim the freon and open the system up and possibly contaminate the system if your not carefull.

Yes it can be done, it just takes some patience. You remove the nut off the compressor then unbolt the compressor and carefully twist it around to face up. Then you can get the clutch puller on and remove the clutch. The new one will come with shims to properly set the clutch airgap. This airgap is probably why your old one stopped working. Some members just reshim it and get more use out of it. I personnally just changed mine, why go to all that trouble to maybe get a 1-2 years out of it.
