Hey Everyone,

I'm having a problem with my A/C compressor cycling on and off really
rapidly. Everything was working perfectly until the other day I felt the
car start hesitating (like a misfire) on the freeway. I traced it down to
compressor rapidly cycling on and off. Even with the sitting and idling, I
can hear the compressor switching on and off constantly. Any ideas what
could be wrong? Hopefully it's something simple, since driving around
without defrost in the winter SUCKS!

I was thinking I could bypass the compressor with a shorter belt until I get
some time to look at it. Is this possible? Anyone know what size belt I'd
need?

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Rapid cycling is typically a symptom of low refrigerant charge.

The compressor clutch can be disabled by unplugging the A/C cycling switch. The switch is ocated on the top of the accumulator can (near firewall, under a shroud).
