Does anyone have have a stock Gen 2 ATX that can burn the tires from a stand still? Mine will not and I'm wondering if it's normal. The plugs and wires are new and I'm trying to figure out whats holding me up, I'm wondering if I have clogged cats or maybe bad 02's can exhaust be a the problem? or other sensors maybe? I have no clue where to start, but shes a dog right now.I forgot to mention I think everything on the car is original minus the new plugs, wires, Air filter, and Fuel Filter.

being able to burn the tires from a standstill isn't an accurate measure of performance.

I'm just trying to get an idea if I'm lacking torque here, I also got smoked by a stock gen 2 a few weeks ago and I'm almost embarrased to drive the car. And I would think being able to light them up would be a decent measure as I dont have a dyno and would be able to tell if someones low end power is that much greater than mine. I'ts really just to find out if my car is unhealthy or not.

Depends on too much things , weather - temp - tires (new or not- soft or hard) asphalt can even change that....

It is a ATX after all.. Good cars but not the best for racing. Even with the bigger motor, they don't pull down low much faster then the MTX.

My ATX can chirp tires from a stand still. As Ceberus stated, to many things play a factor. FWIW, my moms 94 (vulcan) can chirp them as well.

Maybe the tires are too good? The facts are, the motor IS LOW TORQUE.

when i had my 93 it would tear the tires from a stop. I had new kumho's on it. It would also loose them a bit when the secondaries would open. Also almost always chirp into 3rd, but that was the shift kit i had.

generaly speaking, stock SHO atx cars cant realy do burnouts, these are high rpm motors, AND the atx's have ****** first gears, limiting their ability to "high quality" burn outs

how much did the stock 2nd gen beat you by ?
