*Posting for a fellow sho bro.

97 sho, about 120k, non-welded  , has troubles.
-Car has been driven very little b/c of the problems that have come up after being in storage over the winter. Getting drove to the shop and back has been the extent of its life. I know the ICRM has been wired open b/c it broke awhile back. The car will run fine for about 10 mins. After 10 mins or so its starts misfiring and blowing black smoke and just running real rough. The car has been at a local Ford dealership all week where they could not pinpoint the problem. I figured it has something to do with the rear wiring harness heating up. When getting the v8 welded they do insulate the harness don't they? But I'm a gen one owner so what do I know  ... Any help??

Black smoke on the GEN 3 has always been PCM problems for me. See if some wires have been chewed on or try taking the PCM connector off to check for corrosion.

As it turns out, the guys at Ford put on a new computer into it, same problems. Someone keeps telling him the o2 sensors may be bad, would swapping them out help at all?

That's usually a good start.

It has been on the scantool for hours before this latest stint. Like I said in the original post this car has been in and out of shops for months.

The scan tool can report the numbers that the O2s are reading. You should see easily if they are giving a good signal.

As for the back harness I guess it depends who welded the cams, they may have insulated the wires then maybe they didn't.

An O2 sensor will not keep the car from running. The wiring going to it could short out and drag down the 5V power for the sensors though.
