Ugh.

F6OZ*2B134*AA is the current, valid part number. It has not changed, nor has any other part been issued this number. Ford does not reuse discontinued part numbers on other parts. I have ordered over 20 of these brackets this year, including two LAST WEEK. Guess what? I used the part number I gave you. Guess what? The dealer placed the order with that part number. Guess what? I got the right part!

Again, here is what I think your problem is: You are probably asking for part number F60Z*2B134*AA when you should be asking for F6OZ*2B134*AA. Look alike, don't they? GUESS WHAT? THESE ARE NOT THE SAME TWO PART NUMBERS! In the part number you are using, the third character is a ZERO, which is an INVALID part #! In the second part number you should be using, the third character is an "O" as in the LETTER "O" (commonly pronounced "Oh", not "Zero").

If you must insist on specifying a vehicle, tell them you want the brackets for a 1996 Lincoln Continental. The Conti uses the exact same brackets, calipers, rotors, and pads as the '96-'99 SHO's. There has been an ongoing problem with parts lookups for SHO's specifying SLO parts incorrectly at Ford dealers which is why 99% of us just shop by part #. This has been discussed on the forum numerous times. If you order by the F6OZ*2B134*AA part number, you will get the correct part -- even if the dealer's computer says it's for a 1959 Ford Galaxie, you'll still get the correct part!

We are just trying to help you here :) , yet you seem to think we'd want to give you flawed information for some reason. You ask for our help 'ASAP' and when we offer it, you seem to think we don't know what we're talking about! Hundreds of people have done this upgrade with only the part numbers in their hands, and haven't had any problems. The only time people encountered problems was when trying to get the brackets on-the-cheap from someplace other than Ford. Good luck in whatever you end up doing.

If I tell the dealer the damn part number, and don't bother to double check their listing for it, I could possibly get the wrong part, and be STUCK with it and have to pay for it. Their part #'s change all the time, and according to 2 different dealers, that # is no longer valid, but apparently a DIFFERENT part took over that old number. So without any 100% verification, I don't think anybody would just order the specific part # with a chance of getting stuck with something they don't need. It's not right the dealers can do that, but apparently that's their policy since THEY can't return things ordered from the warehouse.

Some of the most recent SLOs....read: SSSS lll OOO ss have the same 11.6" front system. Thats why the parts are now so cheap. Not sure exactly which years.
Not sure exactly what this has to do with, since the issue is about the part numbers of the brackets and not really any prices or anything about ssss ||||| ooooo ss?

Oh well, either way we've decided this has already taken too much time away from our trip to TX, so I'm just gonna drive down there with my current setup, and get the brackets and install it while I'm down there. Thanks,

Tom
To put it another way,,some models of the new Slos have the same front brakes as 96 -99 SHOs. Same rotors, same pads, same calipers. The 96 brackets I used were F6OZ*2B134*AA,,,that number is from May 2000. It may have been changed to a new number. I have done the 96 upgrade on both my 92 and 95. I also took my 87 Slo wagon from 10" to 11". Just tell the dealer you want the brackets for a 96 SHO. And, yes, dealers can send regular orderded parts back to the warehouse. They may not want to, but they can. If you specifically ask for the 96 SHO bracket and they sell you something different they should correct the situation. Good luck, and when you do get the brake upgrade it will be worth it.

Just to bump this topic back into viewing range, I wanted to say that I just purchased the parts from NAPA.

95 lincoln continental

2 calipers with pads and brackets for 120 bux. toss in the rotors for 70 a pair and I have the complete 96 upgrade to the car. I will install them tomorrow which gives me time to throw a quick coat of paint on the calipers while they are off the car. 190 plus tax and I have a complete front brake job. This would cost big bux if done at the dealer.

$40 for the brackets is good from FPN, but wouldn't it be worth it to spend $15 more for new calipers from Napa?

Jeez, there are so many different threads I've read on this that are all a little different.

To clarify, For my gen1, all I would need additionally to what F-22 bought are the steering knuckles?
