Does anyone have all the part numbers for the 96 brake upgrade? I mean all the part numbers. I looked at shotimes and it has some of the part numbers.

Thanks,
Ryan

I found the shotimes FAQ to be the best place to get facts and directions for everything I have done to my car. You can print it out and save it in a notebook and have all your ?'s answered... it is well worth cking out!

How much did you pay by going to a parts store? I mean... $1200 for brakes.... come on I know we can find it cheaper!

That isnt a bad price for a 13" kit, sounds reasonable even compared to other kits for other cars. Surprised it hasnt been jacked up like other SHO parts from SHOShop

I paid the 1200 for my 96 upgrade, why? Cuz i had the money, and I wanted all new ford parts. And it was one of the best mods I did. Night and Day difference in braking. I don't know how many times I threw my little brother into the dash when he wouldn't wear his seat belt.

Some people said I'm crazy, but I was very picky with my sho..... (smacks self again for getting rid of her.)

No that is for a '93 for the '96 Brake Upgrade. For the 13" or Cobra brakes that is another $500 - $1000.

Depends on how you go about it.

I'm buying used knuckles/spindles (both of them) from a '94 for the price of one side new. I'm going to bypass the 96+ upgrade, and go straight to 13" rotors from Baer. It'll come out to about the same price, if not less.

I'm not done purchasing the parts, nor am I figuring in labor (****, I may just take the car to my dad's house, and we'll do it there), but I don't think it'll exceed $1200. The 13" Baer kit really isn't all that expensive.

Check the SHOtimes FAQ as mentioned above. Some of the part numbers are not current, but a competent parts guy could find the right ones for you.

I did the labor with a friend so install charges consisted of a dinner. The parts total, with my discount, was hair over $230.

The calipers are special order parts from Ford. They don't normally go bad so dealers don't stock them.

You got all the parts for a 93 to 96 brake upgrade...both calipers, spindles, new slider pins etc, rotors, and pads (did i forgot stuff?) for 230? How big a discount is that.

I didn't need all that. I've got a 94 so I don't need the ABS spindles. All I needed was 2 rotors, the caliper brackets, pads, and 8 bolts.

Even with my discount an 89-93 SHO would be hella expensive. I quit counting at $800 if you wanted all new Ford parts.

93's share the same spindle as the 91 and 92's, which are smaller than the 94/95's. You can't put an adapter on those spindles like you can with a 94/95.

Ack!! $1200 for the 96 upgrade??

Lordy, for that much you can damn near get Baer brakes. If those things cost that much forget about the 96's and get some really good brakes.

Now, I haven't yet gotten really down and dirty with my brake upgrade, I'm piecing together the parts I need.

I've got a 1993 ATX. To do anything special, I've got to upgrade to 94/95 spindles.

Spindles + brackets (both sides) pulled from a 1995 Taurus w/ABS = $90

Baer 13" Upgrade Kit = $500-$600 from Baer

Now, I'm sure there's some other parts I might need, but the Baer kit comes with rotors, calipers, pads, lines, etc.

When I get down into actually being ready to do the brake upgrade, I'll know more of what I need, but so far, total predicted cost is, max, $700. Not a horrible price.

Of course, this doesn't count the required 17" wheel upgrade (I want the 13" rotors), but that's ok.
