So just gained ownership of my grandmothers 95 sho 5 speed. Soon installing a clutch and curious to see if there are any tuner/programmers for the Yamaha 3.0. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

There are very few. Honestly there is not much to be gained with just a tune. Most of the bolt on mods are expensive with little return. I've owned a bunch of these and spent a fortune on trying to modify-- that I did not have at the time.

Enjoy it for what it is. The bolt on stuff is not worth alot and the only way to get it noticeably faster is to strap on a supercharger/turbo or something. That will make it way less reliable (which at this age is a big ask) alot more money with alot of issues yadda yadda. To get a big jump you need a better platform.
Unless you are a psychopath with a hefty budget and good wrenching skills. There are still a few of those around. Very few but Zach has his blueturd car in some posts and on youtube.

Thanks luigisho, I kinda figured that’d be the case and correct the car has 186000 on it and I don’t want to hurt the engine by trying to get more out of it, thanks for the reply!

That's alot of miles. You should put rod bearings on the to do list in the not too distant future. There are writeups on how to do this. Enjoy the car!

The largest single improvement is the ShoSource catted Y-Pipe, or if your state allows, the non catted model.
That is your best bang for your buck.
Do the maintenance to ensure things are the best they can be, but stay away from engine rebuilding as parts are hard to obtain and many things are no longer manufactured.

Thanks sperold, another idea I had was true dual exhaust, from the cats back and I have some 09 mustang gt mufflers. Would performance/sound be worth the trouble? Along with the added shosource y pipe?

Welcome! Hopefully you have the maintenance history of the car so you will know what has or hasn't been done

The y pipe precludes true dual exhaust. It takes both exhaust banks and merges them into a Y then back out the car. there is another rear Y split to give the appearance of dual exhaust. There were attempts with true dual with mixed results. The best stuff I remember was an H or X style to connect the 2 pipes to even out exhaust pulses. I don't think it is worth the time or money. You need to look at maintenance with a high mileage vehicle. If a rod bearing spins your motor is toast. Best bang for the buck is usually brakes and suspension. Anecdotal evidence over the years looks like manual cars have more rod bearing wear than the automatics.

The original exhaust is hard to beat.

If you can source an original Borla system, it has 2 pipes shoehorned into the existing routing. And that is an improvement. Problem is, you have to find one used; they are stainless construction, and do not sound aggressive, if that is what you prefer. Back when they were sold, they were close to $1000.00, so they are hard to find now.

yes I do, my grandparents bought it pretty much new, it was a program car. My grandmother drove it daily till a couple tears ago we got her an automatic since the clutch was ******* her knees. My grandpa and dad were big drag racers and my dad owns an auto shop so we have done all maintenance and work to the car since it was bought
