I recently destroyed my first ATX SHO transaxle about a month ago. It was a catastrophic failure. The final drive gear colapsed and spewed shards of it out through the transmission pan in 4 different places. Anyways, we found a ATX SHO tranny out of a 95 SHO and had it put in as a replacement. It was in fairly good condition and had about 75K on it beofre instalation. It shifts extremely hard (when going from park to drive the entire car shudders) and shift's much cleaner than my old 93 one did. Except for the fact that when shifting from 2-3 the tranny upshifts followed by what feels to be a downshift with an almost immediate upshift. This only occurs when i'm crusing. If i'm pulling it shifts striahgt on to 3rd with now looking back. What the heck is it thinking? Could this possibly be a conflict between the ECU and the tranny? I don't believe the ECU from the 95 was used in the swap. Could this be the problem and if so when purchasing a LPM would i purchase one for a '95 or for a 93? thanx...

Get the revised D4U1 EEC-IV to compliment that 95 transaxle. Was the fluid changed during r&r?

Bad motor mounts or subframe bushings might explain the shuddering. When you had the tranny installed what torque converter did you use (your original one, one from the used tranny, or a rebuilt one)?

The 2-3 hunting you're seeing might be due to the EEC not supplying sufficient EPC line pressure at partial throttle, so upgrading to the D4U1 may alleviate this somewhat. I would upgrade to the D4U1 and then get a D4U1 LPM from Ted B.

How many miles have you put on the car since the tranny was installed? Once you have 1500-2000 miles, you should have the tranny pressure flushed. The installation of the used tranny might have resulted in some deposits in the valve body which might also explain your shifting difficulties.

i don't believe that the ECU was changed and that may be the whole of the problem. The fluid was flushed as far as i know. The tq convertor from the 95 tranny was used. where would i purchase the 95 ECU from? junkyard? and yes i definitly plan on going Ted B. for the lpm. i just wanna keep the tranny together untill i can reinforce everything around it. And as soon as i get my taxes back i'm replacing all my motor mounts. They are pretty far gone. Thanx for all the help guys.
