Hmm... Was offered a 95 MTX car, says it has a slight knock, no performance issues, mileage issues, has not gotten any worse, but I heard it over the phone and it sounds like the timing chains are slapping the valve covers..... I'll have to drive this car 500 miles home, wondering if I should get a trailer or what...

Thanks James

if it is in fact just the T-chain tensioner, then yea, you can drive it home.

however, if it is something else, well you may need to re-think the purchase.

Slight knock could be a # of things, each one with a different result if something goes sour. Timing chains, timing belt, crank cancer, rod knock, valve shim to name a few. If your unable to pin point it before you have to leave with it and still want to buy it you prolly should tow it.

Nah, drive it...and bring your AAA card. and $300 extra in cash.

If it blows up on the way home, you will know it needs a tow.
